Boat
Fueling:
Please be aware to make sure the boat is level on the lift prior
to filling with fuel. But the main thing is to also ensure to only
fill to less than ¾ if you are using the fuel gauge as an
indicator. Its not a bad idea to take the extra effort to
pull the carpet cover in the rear compartment, and look at the tank
if you are not sure while filling.
We have had some issues with fuel spillage when boats are not put
on the lifts level and too much fuel is put in the tank. This is
something we definitely need to avoid, we must be careful not to
overfill the fuel tank. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
FROM
DRIVER TEAM: MATT STORRIER
Hi All,
Ski season is about to begin. On behalf of the driving team I want
to take few minutes to go over some key points about boats, driving
and ZeroOff.
1.
Martin Motor Sports is our boat supplier and has been very gracious
to us. The deal we have with Martin is through their Edmonton head
office. The Calgary dealership has been working with us for maintenance
and has been exceptional but the contract is with Edmonton. That
said if you have any questions/concerns about the boats please speak
to Dan Velcic directly, not Martin Motor Sports in Calgary. Further
to that we do have a member at our club who works for Martin and
has been very helpful in the past. Remember he's a member, not a
Martin rep when he's down at the club. So please respect that. Like
you he doesn't want to be working when he's trying to have fun.
So if you have questions/concerns about the boats speak to Dan.
2.
For the first time last year we did some driver training/certifications.
I think overall driving at the lake showed some improvement and
there were more members then ever getting involved in driving. That
said we still had our issues. The big one being that we caused $3000
of damage to the boats last year. This was 100% attributed to people
hitting the dock too hard, causing the fiberglass to spider. The
solution to this problem is very simple. Approach the docks slowly
and with caution.
3.
Speed control this year is all ZeroOff. So only one system to learn/remember.
If you aren't comfortable please ask someone on the driving team
(Matt, Russ, Todd, Doug).
Here's a quick reminder of how it works.
The screen displays the following items:
Page Icon (diamond in top right)
Speed
Letter
On/Off
Times at each buoy and total time ( and their variance from actual)
Controls on the system:
-Select - moves you around the screen
-Up/Down - changes the highlighted field
-Menu/On Off - Turns the system On or Off, and if held goes into
some background information (which you don't need to get into, but
if you do accidentally push menu again to return)
Key fields you will be changing:
-Speed - please check this every time you have a new skier
-Letter - A through C at skiers preference
Field
to avoid:
In the top right portion of the screen there's a small diamond icon.
If you are highlighted on this field and hit up or down it will
change the screen to recreation mode or show previous times. If
you do this by accident just hit either the up or down arrow until
the screen returns to normal.
So
far only one boat has been set up for our lakes. The other one will
be done shortly (it's currently not in the water).
4.
If you are wanting to learn to drive or would like a refresher please
contact myself or one of the other members of the driving team (Russ,
Todd, Doug )
Last
point, if you aren't yet approved to drive please don't, until you've
received sign off from the driving team. If you have been approved
but don't fee comfortable with the boat or ZeroOff please ask for
help.
Have
fun and see you at the lake,
Matt
Any questions or concerns throughout the season please do not hesitate
to contact one of the clubs executives:
Dan Velcic, Colin Robertson, Matt Storrier, Suzanne Velcic
Hope
to see you all at the lake soon!!
